Regional Series
At the invitation of community partners, we co-design business education programs which meet the specific needs and interests of the local Indigenous business sector.
Our Regional Series have been delivered in Kanny-Goopna/Shepparton, Rubibi/Broome, Mparntwe/Alice Springs, Yarrabah, lutruwita/Tasmania.
Indigenous Business Month
Co-founded by Professor Michelle Evans, MURRA Alumni Mayrah Sonter (33 Creative) and MURRA Alumni Leesa Watego (Iscariot Media), Indigenous Business Month is a month-long celebration and showcase of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, highlighting their innovation, excellence, economic independence and self-determination. Held annually between 1-31 October, the platform seeks to inspire the next generation of Indigenous entrepreneurs and build awareness of the role Indigenous business plays in creating jobs, preserving culture and driving economic development.
The Indigenous Business Month Awards showcase the outstanding achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and provides national and local role models to inspire all Australians. These annual awards recognise outstanding achievements across a range of categories, spotlighting Indigenous business excellence, leadership, innovation and collaboration
Black Coffee
Black Coffee is a grassroots Indigenous business networking event held in regions around Australia each month. Originating in Queensland and founded by MURRA Alumni Leesa Watego (Iscariot Media), Black Coffee provides a platform to connect micro- and small business owners around Australia. On the last Thursday of each month, Indigenous business owners and professionals, along with their supporters, get together and yarn (ie. network and build relationships). Some regions are one-off events, bi-monthly, while others are held monthly.
Corporate and Philanthropic Partnerships
Support ranges from program specific partnerships (such as for MURRA), to research (as data custodians or on ARC Linkage grants) and research consulting services, through to Centre wide support.
