Seeking Expressions of Interest

Steering Committee for ARC Linkage Project on
“Evaluating Indigenous preferential procurement programs (IPPP)”

A Steering Committee (SC) is being established to provide independent strategic and technical advice on academic and cultural matters that affect the conduct, communication and data sharing of the research undertaken as part of the ARC Linkage project, Evaluating Indigenous Preferential Procurement Programs.

We are seeking expressions of interest from Indigenous business leaders to join the IPPP project as a SC member. The SC will comprise 4-5 members.

About the project
This project evaluates the implementation and impacts of IPPPs on Indigenous businesses, Indigenous communities, procurers’ operations and outcomes.

The project aims to highlight ways in which IPPPs can be [re]designed to reduce implementation friction, facilitate access and participation among Indigenous businesses and help guarantee positive effects on Indigenous communities.

A full list of our current research projects can be found here.

About the role
The SC’s role will be to strengthen the quality, credibility, and influence of the research by providing guidance on Indigenous business engagement in the research, communication of study findings and Indigenous data governance.

Responsibilities

The SC will deliver the following over the length of the three-year project:

  • Guidance for the research team.

  • Strategic direction for the ARC Linkage activities.

  • Reviews of documents and plans as required and able.

  • Participation in SC meetings.

  • Contributions to the impact of the research findings in the community.

  • Agreement to maintain confidentiality where appropriate such as in intellectual property, privacy matters and disclosures by SC members.

  • Agreement to maintain the project's intellectual property which may be disclosed to the SC during meetings and in documents and emails.

  • Contribution to the development of intellectual property of the project by way of discussion, input and feedback on strategy, documents and plans. SC members’ intellectual contributions will be acknowledged in general communication relating to the project, and if specific to an output will be acknowledged in acknowledgments of specific output.

Time commitment and Reimbursement

SC meetings will be held twice a year for one day (virtual and in-person) with further meetings (virtual only) scheduled as needed. Additional time will be spent providing feedback and advice on draft documents and development plans as the project progresses. SC members will also receive training on Indigenous data sovereignty and statistical analysis.

SC members will be reimbursed a small fee for each daily meeting, and costs of participation will be covered by the project.
